UPANZ Auckland: In our September meeting (Tuesday 26th September 2006), David Pomeroy will teach us about Information Architecture.
He’ll cover all facets of this topic:
Understanding the need for good site structure, an explanation of the various processes used to gather and then analyse information, and an audience-participation exercise showing how to produce a site structure that works (and is future proofed).
David will also explain the following: sitemaps, prototypes, wireframes, and he’ll explain how Information Architecture works alongside Usability and Accessibility to create websites that work.

And for those who like to see theory turned into reality, we will test drive user centred design on a real site ‘make over’.

The Information Architecture Institute 2006 Salary Survey is now open at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=378552176521
The survey takes only a minute or two to complete, so if you work in the field of Information Architecture, we hope you’ll stop by and contribute.
The results will be posted in mid-August on the IAI website.

“Why doesn’t this work right? What am I supposed to do with this now?”
World Usability Day, November 14, 2006, is for everyone who’s ever asked these questions. This Earth Day style event, focused on raising awareness and visibility of usability engineering and user centered design, is currently being organized by volunteers and local event coordinators from around the world. Whether a usability professional or just an enthusiastic (or frustrated) user, each participant is making a contribution to “making life easy”.
