UPANZ is a chapter of the international organisation called Usability Professionals’ Association. The international UPA a non-profit corporation, established under IRC section 501(c)6. UPANZ is a not-for-profit group.

UPANZ was incorporated as part of the international UPA in September 2004. UPA is governed according to its Bylaws and Official Policies. Similarly, the UPANZ chapter is governed by its own Bylaws.

UPANZ is governed by a council with the current term running from July to June. The next council elections will be conducted in October 2007, with the new council taking office in November 2007.
