Our core values provide us with a means of not only guiding but also evaluating our operations, our planning, and our vision for the future.

Our Vision
The UPANZ Chapter will help empower people from the design, technology, technical writing and research communities in NZ to realise their goals as user-centred designers and usability professionals. Through our chapter, NZ usability professionals can share and/or improve their usability skills and leadership, and champion user-centred design processes within the organisations they serve.

Our Mission
The UPANZ Chapter is devoted to making user-centred processes, products and services in NZ organisations a reality.

Our mission is to provide a forum for discussion and sharing of ideas so to ultimately ensure NZ products are designed with customer/user needs in mind, and so that practitioners are able to use the latest advancements in the fields of user-centred design, interaction design, and usability engineering.

It is basic to this mission that the UPANZ Chapter continually:

Advance its offerings, thereby providing a greater range of activities, and educational and discussion topics.

Expand its network, thereby offering ever-greater numbers of people the opportunity to benefit from its programmes.

Build relationships with other UPA Chapters, thereby ensuring our community develops alongside other UPA communities.

Build relationships with other related NZ and International professional organisations, thereby ensuring our vision is shared.

Develop partnerships and relationships with NZ industry, thereby helping us to promote our vision within NZ.

Cluster Missions
The mission of a UPANZ Chapter Cluster is to provide a mutually supportive and positive environment in which every member has the opportunity to learn about, develop and practice usability skills, and network with others.
