UPANZ Wellington branch - May usability meeting
Three 20-minute presentations about government websites with a wide range of users. This event will be of interest to all web professionals – from developers and designers, to information architects, content managers and communicators.
After a slow start to the year, the Wellington UPA group has an exciting series of events planned for 2007!
Thanks to some new members on the organizing group we are glad to announce regular monthly meetings for the rest of the year with a topic presenter/s at each meeting. We will have each UPA meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
To kick things off, our next meeting is Tuesday April 3rd and will be about prototyping tools for web design.
The lunchtime session was attended by about 12 people - including representatives from Te Ara, Telecom, BNZ, Westpac - plus some usability frontline troops from The Army, Navy and Airforce (we felt well protected!).
Our congratulations to Wellington members all having babies all around this time! Hayden Vink (Hansel), Bob Medcalf (Provoke) and Sam Ng (Optimal Usability).

UPANZ Auckland: In our September meeting (Tuesday 26th September 2006), David Pomeroy will teach us about Information Architecture.
He’ll cover all facets of this topic:
Understanding the need for good site structure, an explanation of the various processes used to gather and then analyse information, and an audience-participation exercise showing how to produce a site structure that works (and is future proofed).
David will also explain the following: sitemaps, prototypes, wireframes, and he’ll explain how Information Architecture works alongside Usability and Accessibility to create websites that work.
